Mandatory vaccinations for care workers

Mandatory vaccinations for care workers come into force in November

From 11th November, people who have not been vaccinated will not be allowed to enter care homes subject to a clinical exemption. People must have their first dose on the 16th of September to meet the deadline.

The new legal regulation requires CQC registered care homes to ensure that no unvaccinated people are allowed on the premises including, service providers, registered persons, local authorities, workers including agency staff, and residence of the CQC-regulated care homes.

Timeline for implementation

  • 22 June 2021: the regulations were laid in Parliament

  • 22 July 2021: the 16-week grace period starts

  • 16 September 2021: last date for care home workers to get their first dose

  • 11 November 2021: regulations come into force

Care workers registered with the A24 Group

Care assistants registered with the A24 Group need to submit their proof of registration proving that they had both doses of an approved vaccine (for one dose in the care of Jansen vaccine) or unless they are clinically exempt. We will only allocate you to work placements at care homes once we have received your proof of vaccination certificate.

Please note we are receiving guidelines from the Government and Public Health Authorities and will communicate with more information when it becomes available.
