Face coverings required for public commute and hospitals in England

All citizens living in England are now required to wear a face mask while commuting on public transport or one metre plus in areas where two metre social distancing is deemed impossible. The rule came into effect on the 15th of June 2020. The latest advice from the NHS places emphasis on the importance of face coverings and the adherence to safe social distancing.

Face covering required in hospitals

All healthcare workers and visitors are obliged to wearing face-covering when entering any hospital premises. This is to help create a safe haven for essential workers, visitors, and inpatients.

Other daily activities

Those who seek to participate in daily activities such as exercising and running essential shopping errands are encouraged to keep a safe distance. The public at large are advised to wear their face coverings at all times. Please remember to always wash and sanitize your hands regularly.

NHS Foundation Trust provides tips on how to wear your mask correctly

  • Always ensure your hands are clean. Wash or sanitise your hands before putting it on.

  • Ensure the mask goes up to the bridge of your nose and all the way down your chin.

  • Tighten the loops or ties so it’s snug around your face

  • Avoid touching your face, or the parts of the mask that cover your nose or mouth.

  • Wash or sanitise your hands before taking it off

  • Use the ear loops to take the mask off and wash or sanitise your hands afterwards.
